Home/Gratitude/Thanks for the rest or thanks for the remainder?
index card prayer on a pillow

Thanks for the rest or thanks for the remainder?

3/20/07 Our Father in heaven, we give you our thanks for the rest of the night and for another day of opportunity and challenge. Guide those challenged with decisions that impact this nation and grant all of us new levels of understanding and patience. Amen

Rest of the night…sleep, 7 or 8 hours worth. Uninterrupted. Amazingly rare…

Or simply, roughly, selfishly; “Thanks for the remainder of the night.”

I know which way Dad meant it. I know especially this morning because I received almost 8 hours and it is a gift from God.

Yet, many mornings I awake with the other noun leading the way into the day.

Homonyms, don’t you love how efficient they are at clarifying things?
