Now, may God be in your lips, and in all your speaking. May God be in your mind, and in all your thinking. May God be in your heart, and in all your living.
Today, is a Mom-prayer. Mom’s were not written on white index cards, but rather the card back scraps from greeting cards she was recycling. I have no idea whether this was an invocation or benediction at a Circle group at church or an idea she was mocking up for a card. It could be either.
Although her writing is legible, perennially legible! I will include the text in italics. (Yes, I should definitely do that for my father’s, as well.)
Parents Prayers blog
I am not ignoring the irony of me having a blog of prayers on index cards. It sort of makes sense.
When my mother was in the ICU, a chaplain came in and asked if she could pray with my family prior to life support being stopped. We were happy for a word. She then pulled a card out of her pocket with a prayer written on it. It was a one-prayer-fits all occasions. It was not what we needed then.
And yet, now, I cherish their prayers, on card stock…
