1/16/18 Our Father, in these still early days of a New Year help us with our resolutions for change and improvement – to better know ourselves – to recognize our strengths and our shortcomings and to reach out to others.
So many things about this I can’t picture;
- My dad made resolutions for the new year?
- My dad thought he had shortcomings?
- My dad telling himself to reach out to others…
My dad passed away when I was in my 50’s. I was old enough to have surely seen some of these…but I don’t recall ever seeing any evidence of these.
Those things were not things shared with one’s children, but somehow none of this surprises me. I believe them. He just didn’t advertise them. He struggled just as I do sometimes. I come by it honestly, therein is the secret…”to better know ourselves.”
Photo is shot where I start each morning: at a too big dining room table, with my Bible study journal, a cup of coffee and a cloth napkin…and a recipe box of my parents prayers.
Oh, and Happy Birthday, Mom, I miss you.
