2/10/04 Our heavenly Father as we stand again to include You in our fellowship, help us see beyond the routine of doing so. Remind us of our individual and collective blessings – of the opportunities for service we have in this community and of Your willingness to guide us. Amen
Snow brings out the best and worst in us. Whether you’re a tough Midwesterner or a not so tough Midwesterner.
My Sidewalk Snow Samaritan story is about my neighbor. Up till yesterday I would not have known her name. But after blowing my drive yesterday, I noticed someone out doing the walks on my side of the street.
I wrongly assumed it was a next door neighbor. I was wrong. This person covered the whole block with her giant snowblower. She lives mid block and took it upon herself to do the whole block.
Opportunities for service are literally right outside our front door.
When I saw her go by, I ran to go out to say thanks.
She responded that we have a great block and the people here care.
We made a tentative plan to restart neighborhood gatherings in my new fire pit this spring.
