Continuing to direct the journey

Haven’t posted since a family member told me this need to do this blog was related to not coming to healthy terms with my father’s death. I don’t feel that is why I started it.

I started it as a way to celebrate their lives and to also peek in at a side parents (at least mine) don’t share with their kids.

So I continue on now, directing a journey in our COVID-19 world using sewing skills passed down the generations to sew masks for this war effort. Never would I have thought that my sewing skills (and horde of fabric) would be utilized in this manner. Mom would be pleased to see I remembered how to make my own bias tape.

Grandma would be happy to see I didn’t take sloppy shortcuts.

Thanks all! Your perseverance teaching me makes me feel useful and valued in my confinement.

    Marty,
I disagree with your family member on your Parents’ Prayers. And anyway, what if it was trying to come to terms with the loss of your father?! No big deal and totally your choice. There is so much wisdom and hope in your parents prayers. I loved them and agree they will be especially relevant during this time. At our age we have earned the right to do whatever we choose, n’est pas?
I just got a new sewing machine. I have not sewn in 40 years. I would love to help out. Where did you get the pattern for the masks?
I am so proud of you for making masks, but not surprised at all. You are such a great person.
I have been cooking and baking my own bread. I do not mind being quarantined, it is sort of like retirement! I love the quiet times and freedom to do whatever and not be distracted. Praying for all and hoping you are all safe and sound.
Sending much love your way. Stay strong!
    Deb
