12/20/05 Our heavenly Father, we thank you for the joys of this season, for the shining eyes and laughter of children – for the opportunity to share and to express our feelings for others. Remind us that its spirit and our compassion for others can continue and prevail. Amen
The last prayer of Dad’s for the year. Like a lot of organizations, his Exchange Club group probably took a break over the holidays. I have no more cards for December.
Post-holidays can be a down time, also. The decorations come down and hopes and dreams and anticipation get packed away also, if that’s where our hopes and dreams reside.
But it doesn’t have to. I love the empowerment of Dad’s last line. Our compassionate response to others can continue in 2018, and 2019, etc. We don’t need the “hurry, donate before the end of year” pleas. Need knows no calendar. It is 365 days a year. We can always find need.
May we always respond with compassion.
Knowing that will prevail gives me hope for the real spirit of the season sinking in and wrapping through my inner being, impacting every cell and every decision to be compassionate all the days of the year to come.
Prevail.
